In order to add a new Room type the below steps need to be followed:
1. Room Types
Navigate to Administration -> Reservation Codes -> Room Codes -> Room Types.

Click on the "Add" button and enter the following information in the fields below:
  1. Property: Select the property from the lookup list.
  1. Room Type: Enter the Room type code, up to 4 characters (as close as possible to the description and preferably the same as the room type code used in eRes).
  1. CRS Code: Enter the code eRes (CRS) uses to book this room type, preferably it should be the same code created in Apex.
  1. Interface Code: Should the property interface to Nightsbridge the room type code needs to be entered here.
  1. Default: If this tick is activated the CRS will book ALL reservations under this room type. Please DO NOT activate this tick.
  1. Don't send Availability to CRS: If this tick is activated the availability will not update from Apex to eRes.
  1. Inventory Only (no rooms): When the room type is created as a Non-Room, for example activities such as elephant rides or guide rooms. This will be reserved the same as normal room reservations and folios can also be checked-in.
  1. # Inventory Units: This can only be set for Non-Rooms; this amount will increase as room numbers are created in the system.
  1. Display Seq: The room types will display as per display sequence number on the availability chart.
  1. Default Overbooking Limit: If the default overbooking amount is entered for the room type this will be active for all dates. To specify overbooking over certain periods only, please see Booking Limits as this is the better option to use for overbooking.
  1. Default CRS No Sell Limit: Limit eRes to make reservations when availability for the room type has reached the amount specified. Once entered this will be active for the room types for all dates, to specify no sell limits over certain periods please see Booking Limits as this is the better option to use for limits.
  1. End of Day Room and Tax: If the room levy charged is different for every room type, the configuration of the room levy will NOT take place under the Property code setting, but under the Room Type menu, NOT both.
  1. Default Room Department Code: Should there be different accommodation charge codes per room type, they can be selected here, the levy distributes from the charge code selected on the Department Audit.
  1. Room Tax (Levy) Department Code 1: Room levy will charge only for the room types where the room levy charge code was selected, and not for all rooms under the property codes menu. The levy amounts and calculations are still configured under Property Codes -> Settings tab.
  1. Room Tax (Levy) Department Code 2: Select the 2nd Room levy that will charge only for the room types where the charge code was selected. The levy amounts and calculations are still configured under Property Codes -> Settings tab.
  1. Timeshare Levy Department Code: Please see the Timeshare module.
  1. No Distribution of inclusive amounts for this room type: When activated all the rates charged for this room type that has inclusive amounts built within the rate will NOT distribute.
  1. Housekeeping Service every and Description: Specific instructions will appear on the Room List Report regarding housekeeping service. Type the instruction that should appear on the Room List Report, for example Change Towels. Depending on the above mentioned days selected, will the system flag the instruction and will it appear (every day) for the specified occupied room types on the Room List Report.
  1. Booking Max Pax Warning Limit: Should a limit be entered, a warning message will appear when a reservation is made and the number of guests booked exceeds the limit set on the room type. The warning will also appear if the initial reservation was made no exceeding the Pax limit and is changed thereafter to exceed the limit.

After the above details have been entered click on the "Save" button to save the changes. The next step is to add Room Numbers linked to the Room Types. Please see the article on how to add Room Numbers.
